How to add Music to Groove App on Windows 10

The single go-to music app in Windows 10 is the OS's default Groove Music app. It is by no means is 'one-click' solution for your music storage, but a straight forward solution to keep all your music files organized, and find your favorite music in the collection in seconds. In this post, we walk you through the process of adding music to Groove App on Windows 10 PC. The app lets you view your music collection by album, artist, and song.

Add Music to Groove App

For adding music from your locally stored music to Groove App on Windows 10 PC,

Open the Music app by typing Groove in the taskbar search field adjacent to Windows Start Menu.

Next, select Settings. You see a red coloured 1 in the image above.

Then under Music on this PC, click on the link 'Choose where we look for music on this PC'.

A new panel will open.

Now, click the “+” button to see your local folders.

Select the desired folder.

Next chose 'Add this folder to Music' option to add the folder.

After having done this, hit the Done button.

If you would like to remove music folders

Look for the “X” mark in the upper-right corner of the folder tile.

Next, select Remove Folder to confirm the action.

Once you've removed the folder of your choice, click Done.

In case, you have music files stored on an external device like USB flash drive or an external hard drive, you can add music from a USB flash drive or external hard drive directly to the library.

App users having Groove Music Pass can get access to Microsoft's catalog of online music to stream or download for offline use. The pass is valid on Windows 10 as well as Windows Phone. Please note that signing up does require a Microsoft Account.
