Microsoft Restores The Classic Personalization Window In Windows 10 Build 10547

Unlike previous Windows versions, when you perform a right-click on Windows 10 RTM build 10240's desktop and click Personalization option, you get the Personalization section of the new Settings app instead of the classic Personalization window.

As you likely know, the classic Personalization window allowed users to quickly change the current desktop theme, set and configure desktop slideshows, and quickly access screen saver, color and appearance, sound schemes, desktop icons and some other settings.

The Personalization section of Settings on Windows 10 although offers all settings to personalize desktop, Start menu, and taskbar and stripped-down version of Personalization window can also be accessed from Settings app or by typing Control Desktop in Run command box, millions of desktop users have been complaining about the lack of classic Personalization window.

To help Windows 10 users, developers have released tools like Personalization Panel for Windows 10 to restore the classic Personalization window.

It seems that a large number of PC users have asked Microsoft to restore the classic Penalization window via the Feedback app. The recently released Insider Preview build (10547) includes the Personalization panel and can be accessed via desktop context menu.

The only catch is that it's not fully functional yet, meaning clicking on an option will open up the appropriate section of Settings app. For instance, if you click the desktop background, the Personalization section of Settings app will be opened. At its current form, the restored Personalization window is not very useful as it re-directs you to the Settings app to get the job done.

In short, the newly introduced Settings app is here to stay and you will have to use it to personalize Windows 10. By the way, the Control Panel will be dropped from future Windows builds.
