Groove Music is due to retire its OneDrive streaming service this month. However, we suggested a workaround via which you could continue to enjoy the music streaming. The app also offers an option for playing your own local files. If required, modify or tailor the experience with new features. For example, Groove Music brings an Equalizer to the app's settings.
The equalizer, as the name already suggests allows you to tweak frequency responses to your liking. Aside from being able to tweak individual bands, the equalizer supports few pre-set settings for enabling quick changes. This guide walks you through the process of accessing and using the equalizer in Groove Music app.
Use Equalizer in Groove Music to tweak sound settings
Firstly, to use the equalizer in Groove Music you should be running the latest version of Groove Music app or version 10.18011.12711.0 or higher.
If necessary, you can verify the version number from Windows Store. For this, open Windows Store, click on the ellipses icon and select 'Downloads and Updates'.
Search for Groove Music and see the version number. The equalizer setting is enabled by default. To access it, click on the 'Settings' icon (gear icon) and select 'equalizer' under 'Playback settings'.
An Equalizer window will pop up. The window will allow you to configure equalizer settings using the drop-down menu as shown in the screenshot below. The following presets are available to choose from.
- Flat
- Treble Boost
- Bass Boost
- Headphones
- Laptop
- Portable Speakers
- Home Stereo
- TV
- Car
- Custom.
Also, you can set your own preferences by dragging the dots upwards or downwards as needed.
The only shortfall I noticed in this setting is that there's no shortcut available for quick access. You must manually navigate through the Settings section to access it and change the preset configurations.
The Groove Music app also works on the mobile version of Windows 10.
