How To Disable Sent From Windows Mail Signature

The Mail app that ships with Windows 8/8.1 isn't just beautiful it's functional too. This official Mail app supports most of the webmail services out there, including Microsoft's own Outlook.com, Google's Gmail, and Yahoo! Mail.

Even though you need to a Microsoft account in order to use the Mail app, it's pretty easy to setup and access all mail accounts from one place. While not all users are exactly happy with the Mail app and prefer using traditional desktop clients, the Mail app certainly the best email app available for Windows 8/8.1.

If you have been using the Mail app to manage one or more email account(s), you probably have observed that the Mail app adds “Sent from Windows Mail” text at the end of mail when you send or replay to an email from this Mail app. In simple words, “Sent from Windows Mail” text appears when you use Mail app to compose or replay to an email.

Those of you have been using smart phones probably are familiar with the above text as most of the apps out there for smart phones add similar words at the end of emails.

If for some reason, you want to remove this default “Sent from Windows Mail” signature and replace the same with your name or company name, you can do so by following given below instructions.

Remove or customize Sent from Windows mail signature

Step 1: Open Mail app.

Step 2: Move the mouse cursor to the upper or lower-right corner of the screen to see Charms bar. Click Settings.

Step 3: Here, click or tap Accounts to see all accounts that have been added to the Mail app.

Step 4: Click or tap the email account for which you want to remove or change the default “Sent from Windows Mail” signature. For example, if you want to remove or change the default signature for your Hotmail account, you need to click on that account.

Step 5: Scroll down to see an option labelled Use an email signature. Turn off Use an email signature option to stop Mail from adding “Sent from Windows Mail” text. And if you want add a custom signature, simply replace existing words with your custom ones. For instance, you can add your name and contact number as signature. That's it!
