To start something like this, requires, one helluva motivation! The Mission? To give people an easier way to find Indian blogs, and to give attention to deserving blogs and bloggers from India or of Indian origin. And so IndiBlogger was born, in August 2007. From being a small community it has now developed into India's premier networking website for Indian bloggers.
Apart from being a directory and search platform, IndiBlogger is focusing on creating a set of tools that will help the entire Indian blogosphere evolve into something greater, simply by working together.
If you need to showcase & promote your blog posts, you can submit them at IndiVine. Other Bloggers then promote the most deserving posts, by voting for it.
IndiBlogger has also come out with an innovative idea of ranking Indian blogs based on certain parameters, called IndiRank. It is calculated based on various factors. Other blog ranking systems rate how popular a blog is. We've taken it a step further based on how deserving a blog is of becoming popular. This is to ensure that the lesser-known, but well deserving blogs are pushed up the ladder as well. IndiRank will be completely refreshed every month, so a blog's previous rank will have no bearing on its present rank.
“We are firm believers in the power of a community. 'The whole is more than the sum of its parts'. Our immediate priority is to expand and reach out to Indians outside the country, perhaps with a few international blogger meets. There is one scheduled for Singapore next week. Our plans also include helping bloggers monetize their blogs” says Renie Ravin, the Founder.
IndiBlogger has over 15,000 blogs in the directory, making it the biggest community of bloggers in India. Such an admirable initiative definitely deserves recognition & encouragement.
