The Disk Cleanup Utility in Windows helps you keep your PC free from unnecessary and unused files by freeing up space several times. In Windows 8, to open this utility, you could go to the start screen and type Disk Cleanup to open it! Try that and see what happens! You don't get this option! You may even see Bing Search results from the web but not what you want. The Disk Cleanup option is hidden by default from Search Charm and the 'All apps' section of Windows 8.1. Should you wish to enable or view the option, you can follow these steps.
Make Windows 8.1 Charms display Disk Cleanup
Switch to the Start Screen of Windows 8.1. Move the mouse cursor to the lower-right corner of your computer screen to open Charms, and choose 'Settings' option. Next, from the section shown, select 'Tiles' option.
Then, simply slide the “Show administrative tools” bar to Yes.
The feature will be enabled. Now type “disk cleanup” on Start Screen and you will see the option displayed in the results after few seconds of delay.
When you do this, all your administrative tools will also be 'searchable' via the Start Screen search charms bar. This wasn't the case in Windows 8!
Now see how you can disable Administrative Tools in Windows 8 using Group Policy, Registry or UI.
