Bot Revolt Anti-Malware Free Edition Download, Review

Most virus or malware detecting programs at first, scan your files and folders for any signs of infections. These programs fail to realize that the primary mode of infection is an IP address via which the infection spreads to a system. As such, an application capable of monitoring all inbound communication to a computer can detect and stop the infection in first place. That's where the role of Bot Revolt comes into play.

Bot Revolt application scans your system automatically every .002 seconds looking for any suspicious or unauthorized communication. It monitors program installation, registry and file changes, keyboard and mouse code control, and other potentially dangerous behaviors. Unlike anti-viruses there is no requirement for doing long scans, Bot Revolt scans constantly in the background without slowing down your computer.

What's interesting to know is that every cybersecurity organization across the world provide its own set of blacklist. Bot Revolt combines the list from all of the major and influential cyber security organizations into 1 major list and updates it daily, thereby protecting you from the latest threats (the feature is available only in paid version). Approximately 3000 entries are added each day! Furthermore, unlike firewalls that do not show you who is trying to access your computer, Bot Revolt shows you who is doing so and from where.

Bot Revolt Anti-Malware Free Edition

When you download and install the application, you see the main screen of the application displaying 3 tabs,

  1. Disable
  2. List Manager
  3. Checking Update

Below these tabs, you can find whether the connections you are connected to are safe or not. Just adjacent to the Disable tab you can find the number of IPs blocked by the application. If you would further like to disable a particular IP address, simply right-click the address and block the IP permanently or for a definite period of time.

Secondly, when you have the list manager opened up, you can click on the 'Add' button to force the application show up 'Add List'.

Here, you can find iblocklist.com, a website where different IP addresses are listed. Select the list that you're interested in blocking from the drop down menu, check the 'Block' option, to actually block the list and hit the 'Add' button.

It's particularly important to note that, from the Bot Revolt free version,  you cannot update the list of malicious IP addresses -nor can you activate the Private Browsing mode too. These two features are available in the paid version of the software. Nevertheless the free version does its job well and you may want to check it out.
